Apparently in Latvian, “vista” means “chicken”. More accurately, a female chicken. With a slight variation, it’s apparently the same deal in Lithuanian too. While it’s nice to see Microsoft creating products geared towards the more agrarian user, it does highlight the problems global companies face when trying to market their products across many varied markets. “Vista” seems to have bombed a bit in many popular languages. In Spanish, “vista” is an inflected form of the verb “vestir”, which means “to dress”. Que usted desean vestir como hoy? (What do you want to dress as today?). In French it means “live your”, so Microsoft will probably market it as “live your dreams”, or something equally nauseating. | ||

Mr. van Surksum should restudy his spanish, specialy the syntax.
"Vista" is more frequently a noun, which means "sight" or "view", as in "mi vista es excelente" (my eye sight is excellent) or "el panorama es hermoso" (the view is beautifull). Yes, "vista" is also the subjunctive form of the verb "vestir" (to drees). His example, "Que usted desean vestir como hoy?", has problems. QUE USTED (second person singular) DESEAN (second person plural, should be DESEA) _______ (missing word PARA) VESTIR COMO (como, unnecesary, unless you which to impersonate somebody at a costume party) HOY?. Correctly it will be "¿Que Ud. o Usted desea para vestir hoy?", or "¿Como quien desea vestir hoy?" in the case of the costume party Hispano-parlantes understand quite well what Microsoft means. I know mi english is far from perfect, also my french, italian and german, but I do not try to inflict my imperfections into others, in those languajes.
