Well, he's kind of right. Commerical software, like it or not, is what makes the industry move right now. Open source software is somewhat like a parasite that leeches off of it, taking what it can where it can.
If Open Source software becomes the norm, commercial vendors will have no incentive to make money and will begin dropping like flies.
Some people cry for all Open Source, but what they don't realize is that there is very little support for Open Source. By support I mean technical support, someone sitting by a phone with an answer. Commercial vendors don't do it all that well, but at least it's better than posting to a newsgroup and praying someone answers your question.
Open Source will never make it big in the enterprise realm because corporations put too much trust and money on the line with their enterprise software, and if someone goes wrong, the need someone to call or someone to sue. They're not going to give up all their rights just so some loser sitting in his parents basement "hacking" can feel better about himself and the software world.
