I have to give the guy credit. Many people in his position would just retire early and spend their days on the golf course, and sleeping with Paris Hilton. Bill Gates will instead spend his time spending his incredible wealth throught the B & M Gates Foundation, which he has already done a lot of good through.
However, given that he is retaining his Chairman of the Board position, he only seems to be giving up the role of Chief Software Architect. I am curious as to what that position entails that requires a two year transition time. That seems a bit excessive to me. But, since his job was custom created specifically for him at the time, by him, I don't claim to have a complete grasp on what his job entails on a day to day basis. Which is why I am curious about the time span. The only thing I can think of at this time is that his successor has not been found yet, and part of the two years is to find said successor.
