Microsoft has publicly announced the first major upgrade to the Xbox Live service for their 360 game console: "This is our first major system update since we launched," said Aaron Greenberg, group marketing manager for Xbox Live. "We've been collecting user feedback since we launched and we put together a very long multi-page list of new features included in this update.
The central improvements in the new update will be to the functionality of Xbox Live Marketplace - the content download system which is more successful than Microsoft originally predicted. The interface for locating content on Marketplace will have new categories, which subdivide the content into more easily manageable groups, and a specific function within each category to view only recently added items.
