Microsoft to upgrade Xbox 360 CPU | |

Microsoft will upgrade the CPU used in its Xbox 360 games console early next year, the CPU's manufacturer announced today. The new CPU will be built using technology that can reduce heat and power consumption, as well as potentially increasing speed. It will also help Microsoft cut the console's cost. | ||

| So how will the CPU's "Increased Speed" affect people who already own the 360. I can't see games making use of the extra speed on on the newer version of the console and alienating the older version. God, lets hope MS are just reducing heat and power and not making an almightly PR mistake. |

| They said "potentially" increasing speed as one of the options available with the 65nm process. I think it's extremely unlikely they would use the 65nm process to do anything other than reduce heat, power consumption, and cost. |

What bluvg said. It's misleading to call this an upgrade. It's just a process shrink.
