Actually i think it will go like this. If you are buying a new computer for home you will get Vista Home Premium. Vista Basic will not include the fancy new UI that all the sheep want (a la OS X) so what would be the point of that if you were buying a new computer. In fact MCE is just Home with the MCE application running on top of it and other minor tweaks. The price difference is only 20-30 dollars (in Canada) for OEM of XP MCE over XP Home.
Starter is for emerging areas. What would be the purpose of it in North America? It is just a Neutered version of the OS anyways. So in the end in North America you have 5 versions (10 if you include the x32 and x64 varations). One of which Vista Enterprise won't be avaliable in retail channels. So that makes 4. Personally I think it is pretty simple and don't get what all the freak out is about (no on here just in general). All the MS haters can easily figure out the hundreds of linux distros so what is the big deal? |
