Microsoft's problems with the Windows Update site, reported here yesterday, are more complex and widespread than first appeared, according to sources within the company. Users have been having sporadic problems accessing Windows Update for some days now, but according to one Microsoft support engineer "internal DNS server problems" have meant that Microsoft staff haven't been able to get to numerous sites from the company's internal network. | ||

prowsej: Conversely, the "major media" like C|Net and ZDNet are very anti-Microsoft biased and a Linux mouthpiece and manage to abuse their market share to Microsoft's chagrin.
They also, almost every time, sensationalize articles to demonize Microsoft and blow minor problems, like this WU bug, out of proportion. I also like how they take opportunities to make digs and insults at MS as we saw in the recent C|Net article about the WU problems. They made sure to point out that MS declared Windows XP its "most secure OS ever", except C|Net didn't just point out the fact, they sarcastically mentioned it with a snide comment afterwards. Was that necessary? Is that journalisticly ethical? Is that non-biased? I think not. So, anyhow, it's nice to have Paul's site to help set the record straight once in a while. If you only read Slashdot all the time, you'd think Gates himself is out slaughtering all the little babies. |

Funny, I consider all arguments regardless of the source.
Using the source of an argument as the sole method of judgment is simply lazy. What exactly about Paul's comments are false? And for those of you who think Paul is 100% Pro-Microsoft (aka, those who don't read his site), have a look-see: http://www.wininformant.com/Articles/Index.cfm?ArticleID=23742 This is just one of the many examples of Paul critisizing Microsoft when they deserve it. He has some rather anti-MS feelings surrounding the entire court case in general, which can be found easily here: http://www.wininformant.com/Articles/ In general, Paul is very fair and calls it how he sees it. Unlike CNet, ZDNet, Slashdot, etc... Paul (and ActiveWin, for that matter) do their best to show the good and the bad stuff. |

I agree Paul is pretty fair. Sometimes he doesn't understand the technical issues involved. But usually he's spot on, as he was with this Windows Update comments.
