Others have asked why Microsoft cannot/will not support ODF when they are willing to support PDF. The reason is really quite clear: Microsoft comes from a position of strength in rejecting ODF because existing MS Office file formats dominate the desktop space — while ODF is but a blip on the radar. However, Microsoft comes from a position of weakness with regards to PDF because the PDF format dominates the web space — and Microsoft wants to make inroads into that space. | ||

| I must be confused. I thought MS was all about servicing the consumer & innovation. Supporting ODF would be beneficial to everyone, yet MS outright refuses to support a format they helped create. |

ODF is patented by Sun
PDF is patented by Adobe Office XML is patented by Microsoft. Latch thinks Microsoft is evil, therefore patented (and not open) specifications like ODF and PDF are good automatically because Microsoft is evil. Latch (and all his OSS fanatic cronies) have their heads up their collectivist a**. |
