The new Fujitsu systems, which will contain industry standard Intel-based processors and run Linux operating software, will complement Fujitsu's Unix- and mainframe-based mission-critical enterprise platform offerings.
Fujitsu, global leader in large-scale, mission-critical computing platforms, aims to make available Intel® Xeon™ processor DP and MP families based on the collaboration from the end of 2004, followed by large multi-processor systems based on future versions of the Intel® Itanium® processor family by the end of 2005. These systems, which will build upon the company's current high-reliability, high-performance Intel-based server offerings, will scale up to the most sophisticated, 128 processor-capable mainframe-class systems.
