#14,
I agree.
Unfortunately, every time I bring that up, the 'Mac' people of the world get all up in arms about it, saying "No way, it can't be done".
They forget that MacOS X is based on NextStep/OpenStep, which was in x86 trim long before it ever saw the Macintosh.
In fact, MacOS X Server IS (or was?) available in PC version. I still have the developer CD's :)
Not only that, but I REALLY feel that somewhere within a lab at Apple, there exists a relatively complete version of MacOS X /x86. No proof, of course, but I just don't think that Steve Jobs is stupid enough to bet quite ALL of the farm on Motorola, especially considering Motorola's pathetic performance in updating the PowerPC.
Considering the charts and graphs that were floated around 6 years ago comparing the PPC with x86 processors, the way things have actually turned out is truly pathetic for Motorola.
I use both platforms. Mainly PC these days due to work requirements, but I would have NO problem seeing MacOS X ported to the PC, or at a minimum, see Apple strike a deal with AMD to switch to AMD x86 processors.
