Microsoft seeks antitrust hearing delay | |

U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly had scheduled the hearing for March 11, but Microsoft argued that because of the gravity of the remedy nine states are asking for, the company should get more preparation time. The hearing would help the judge determine what sanctions to make against Microsoft for its antitrust violations. "The states' far-reaching proposal and broad expansion of this case made today's motion necessary," said Microsoft spokesman Jim Desler. | ||

Keeping in mind this is an Upgrade to an existing development environment, which should prove quite lucrative since there are more VB developers in this world than there are Java developers. |

| Good point soda. I might add that Microsoft's J# and 3rd party Java.NET compilers allow companies to stick with Java and still take advantage of the .NET framework. I've written "100% pure Java" source code and compiled for execution on the CLR. |

From the article - Polling 120 IT executives in early December, Giga Information Group, based in Cambridge, Mass., found that 78 percent of the group viewed J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) server software as the most effective platform for building and deploying Web services.
Um, does J2EE offer web services using SOAP and WSDL? Last time I checked, Sun had announced that it would support them in the future, but that no current product (even current beta product) supported them. What web services standards does J2EE currently support? And if it doesn't support them, then how can it be used as a platform for building and deploying them? |
