Okay, first post. I’m Cyndy Wessling, and I’ve been at Microsoft for eight years and have been a program manager in Office for the past four years, with the last year or so spent working on the Save As PDF feature among other things. This topic has already gotten off to a great start on Brian Jones’ blog, and I’m looking forward to addressing some of the questions and comments I’ve seen posted there. For me and many of the people on my team (all of the Office teams, actually), this has been a long-standing customer request that we’ve been wanting to satisfy, and we are excited to hear your thoughts about Save as PDF, so please let us know. | ||

Oh good. In the upcoming Office 12 release, date TBD, they're about to catch up to OpenOffice 1.1. Yipee!!!
This should have been in OfficeXP, and frankly is considered back-fill at this point. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it will be there, but all it does is keep MSFT as an option, it by no means sets it apart. This post was edited by arossetti on Monday, October 10, 2005 at 18:44. |

You say Office is behind OO.o 1.1 because it doesn't have native support for PDF? Please...
That being said, there are third party plug-ins you can use to do this with in Office. |

| No, what I'm saying is that advertising this particular feature like it's cutting edge technology is very misleading. That would be like advertising the ability to save an existing file with a different name....maybe like a "Save As" type function. The point is, it's absurd for MSFT to make a big deal over something the competition has had for quite some time. |

I agree with #4. Acrobat is insanely expensive for what it does.
Now excuse me while I go collect my free laptop, and then commense to install spyware infested smiley's on it. The AW choice in advertisers never ceases to amaze me. TL |

| You are allowed to export to PDF, but you can't edit them in an Office application, which means, you will still need the writer. |
