Level 200. Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 delivered a new technology, dynamic HTML (DHTML), an open, language-independent object model for standard HTML. With this fascinating technology, content in different Internet Explorer windows and frames can interact in powerful ways by scripting with the object model. However, because a browser can simultaneously display unrelated documents in its various windows and frames, certain rules must be enforced to protect data integrity and privacy of information. During this presentation, we will describe how and why these restrictions apply in the DHTML Object Model. We will also describe a way to create cross-frame scripting-capable pages with HTML applications.
