Bangalore-based researcher, Debasis Mohanty has reportedly cracked Microsoft's Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) through an "easy-to-exploit" weakness in the software.
WGA is an anti-piracy program that keeps a tab on consumers to check whether they are running legitimate, licensed copies of Windows XP.
Mohanty published a detailed proof of concept (PoC) on how Microsoft WGA validation check can be defeated and any Microsoft product with the WGA validation feature can be run and installed on machines running a pirated copy of Windows XP.
