W. Virginia Files Suit Against Microsoft | |

West Virginia's attorney general filed suit against Microsoft Corp. in state court on Monday, alleging the company's business tactics violated state antitrust and consumer protection laws. State Attorney General Darrell McGraw filed the suit on behalf of West Virginia consumers and state agencies, asking the court to impose unspecified damages and sanctions against the company, an attorney representing the state said. West Virginia is one of nine states who have refused to join the Justice Department in settling a federal case against Microsoft. The state lawsuit filed on Monday would position the state to opt its 1.8 million residents out of a separate but related class action settlement with the company, according to one source familiar with the case. | ||

Well let's take your analogy and go with it #4...
We have, today, an alternative to gasoline called ethanol. Ethanol is a renewable resource extracted from corn. It also burns cleaner than gasoline and is safer on the environment. Is the oil industry are stifling our ability to run cars off of ethanol? Is it a giant conspiracy between them and the automobile makers? It must be, right!? However, in order to make this case we're going to have to ignore that we can't produce enough ethanol to power all our cars, not all cars are compatible with 100% pure ethanol, and the cost to produce ethanol is more than the cost to produce gasoline. So I disagree. If this was the oil industry, I would be saying the same thing. These lawsuits are politically motivated by competitors who are too incompetent to compete.(aka Sun Microsystems, Oracle, et al) |

#11. What's your point. I took the oil analogy and ran with it. #12. It's definately about politics. In other news today, AOL offers to buy the AT&T Cable division in a bid to further entrench their Internet monopoly through acquisition rather than innovation. |
