Sinister rumours of Xbox phase-out cast aside by the illustrious Major Nelson… Xbox Live supremo Major Nelson aka Larry Hryb Xbox Live Director, today threw his heavyweight opinion into the mix regarding the persistent rumours regarding Xbox shortages, insisting that claims of Xbox manufacturing being ceased have been entirely fabricated. With certain sources indicating that Microsoft has "reached its targets" and wanting to cut short sales of the loss-making Xbox and build up anticipation for the Next-Generation Xbox, a UK spokesperson for Microsoft backed up the claims to TVG, confirming "It's true that surging popularity has led to an inventory issue at retail. Alongside our partners, we are working to increase our inventory position to catch up with the consumer demand for Xbox." While we have no doubts that Microsoft will begin to phase out supply of the Xbox and build up demand for its successor, the truth is probably far less sinister then the rumours suggests. | ||
