After years of trying to recover from the dot-com hangover, the Internet is booming again. Online retail sales increased by 26 percent in 2004, according to comScore Networks. In September 2004, the number of domain name registrations hit 64.5 million--an all-time high. You know what else is on the rise? Internet crime. Complaints about online fraud nearly doubled from 2003 to 2004, according to a December 2004 report by the FBI (news - web sites) and the National White Collar Crime Center. Research firm Gartner estimates that nearly 10 million Americans were hit by online fraudsters last year--largely due to a wave of phishing e-mails seeking to steal users' identities. | ||

#3, #1 (he sucks!) isn't talking about Microsoft. He is talking about either ChoicePoint or Bank of America. The first one let third parties have unrestricted access to their customer database and was only compelled to come forward because of the draconia privacy laws recenlty passed in California that would have put a huge dent in the bottom line of the company if they hadn't. The second lost backup tapes that were in transit and that contained customer information (nearly a million records) and after many months still doesn't know the real impact if any.
Meanwhile, Microsoft, that has customer records numbering in the hundreds of millions hasn't had a problem that I can recall. As usual, #1 (he sucks!) doesn't know sh*t from shinola. |

I've looked really hard at your posts in a sincere effort to cull out some element that provides any value at all and I have failed. You appear to dislike all things Microsoft and it begs one to wonder why you participate so regularly on an MS oriented board. Similarly, and against the same dislike, you readily admit stealing Microsoft software. Why? Why go through the effort to steal and distribute illegal copies of Microsoft software if you dislike it so much? It do not understand such actions...Did you study for an MS Track and fail...apply for work and were rejected? What is the purpose of your participation here? |

#1 you realize the lead for MS Hailstorm is now at Google trying to do the same thing, right?
#6 Reread #1s post. He specifically mentioned MS Hailstorm which IIRC was supposed to be a remote data repository for your personal info. Also the Bank of America fiasco. Thus far there have been no complaints of identity theft or CC fraud stemming from the dissapearence fo the stolen tapes. My org have many people whose data were on those tapes and we've kept a close eye on the situation. It's turning more and more into a "nothing to see here" situation. |
