GAME, the computer games retailer, has claimed that it lost "tens of millions of pounds" in recent weeks because of a shortage of PlayStation 2 consoles. The firm’s chief executive, Martin Long, said there had been an "unprecedented breakdown" in getting enough of Sony’s consoles out to the public. But it said that it remained confident in its medium-term prospects and looked forward to the launch of the new Sony PSP and Nintendo DS handheld products in the spring.
