Byron has posted his review of Creative Zen Portable Media Center. Here is an excerpt: Portable Media Centers (as Microsoft likes to call them) have been around for sometime in one form or another. Most of them come with drives and small LCD screens and you are usually able to use them to listen to music and look at digital video in addition to being able to playback video clips. This first version of Microsoft's Portable Media Center software has finally hit stores in the form of both Creative and Samsung Portable Media Centers. This review focuses specifically on the Creative Zen Portable Media Center (as shown below). So what do these PMC's let you do? Well you can play music, watch recorded TV or video shows and view your photos on them. | ||

One of the guys that works with us bought one of these and it is pretty slick.
We checked it out and it has a lot of power, options and features that make it good for certain types of people. One of the things I liked about it was its output jack that allows one to show its stored contents on a TV, where one navigates the screen just as an MCE. With a front mount jack on a TV one can move the experience all over the place. Its stored content output was pretty cool and provided a great display. It was heavier than I thought it would be, but not too heavy and it has a very cool leather case that has a built-in kickstand to set the device up on an airplane seatback tray - for example. |

When they put an over-the-aiir TV tuner in one of these (HD, of course) with recording capability, I'll be interested.
Otherwise I'll stick with the Divx movies I make from my DVD collection and store on my Laptop. TL |
