Haly....you are wrong on every count. Then entire article besides the first two lines are FUD. Secondly, MS offers an enormous amount of security updates, auto updates, antispyware, firewall, popup blocker, activex control, add on management, more secure IE6 SP2 default settings and yet you STILL complain. It's funny how those who ask "when is MS going to get this and get that and secure this and secure that" then they do, and you find yet another reason to complain. All I can say is "told ya so". So typical.
1. You have no idea if MS will charge for updates
2. You have no idea if MS intends to make antispyware changes by default to Longhorn
3. You have no idea if MS is offering this solution to ONLY benefit them and not the consumer
You also know that since there are billions of copies of Windows out there that MS cannot update those OS's to be as secure as they would like them to be. There IS no better way to secure those OS's without offering a solution such as this (which is the same solution other OS's use as well). No OS is anti-spyware or anti-virus capable. NONE.
