Soda, no one is whinning. I called a spade a spade.
When I called both Slate and WP overwhelmingly liberal partisans, I was just stating a fact. For example, here is a list of the top "brass" at Slate and how they stated they would vote in the last presidential election:
The October 26 Slate posting listed these staffers as among those planning to cast their ballot for John Kerry, selected names in alphabetical order:
- Phillip Carter, military and legal affairs writer
- Bryan Curtis, Deputy Culture Editor
- Mickey Kaus, contributor
- Josh Levin, Assistant Editor
- Scott Moore, General Manager of the MSN News and Information Division
- Timothy Noah, Senior Writer [In the 1980s Noah reported for the Wall Street Journal, Newsweek and U.S. News]
- Meghan O'Rourke, Culture Editor
- Jill Hunter Pellettieri, Assistant Editor
- David Plotz, Deputy Editor
- William Saletan, Chief Political Correspondent
- Chris Suellentrop, Deputy Washington Bureau Chief
- June Thomas, West Coast Editor
- Julia Turner, Assistant Editor
- Jacob Weisberg, Editor
Then, I pointed out another fact. That is, that WP and also, every other overwhelmingly liberal partisan media outlet has been losing market share.
And, by the way, I say keep it up. Republicans have won 7 out of the last 9 presidential elections. Republicans have the majority in the House and Senate and have continued to gain share for the last dozen years or so. It is media outlets like Slate and WP that have helped make it so. It is my hope that WP can continue to merge with the likes of Slate - hey, how about moveon.org and WP? lol
