Hey! Firefox must be part of, what was it $35B <snicker>, that *nix will generate by 2008 according to IDC!
Well, sure, it must be so. They can afford to make a "big" splash in the NYT. lol

i find it interesting that the new york times did a story on Firefox a few days after the full page ad ran.
Hmmm.... sounds fishy, err, foxy.

I can account for 7 FF 1.0 downloads. It's used to test sites on different systems - then closed, followed normally by a remark something like, "gawd this is awful..." We just do not like FF. It feels slow, bleeds memory like a stuck pig and eventually crashes.
I've had a question for a lot of people who seem to have trouble with MSIE and mal-ware - "where exactly are you guys going on the net? <to get in so much trouble> I've just not encountered the issues some people seem to have had.

#14 - Uhhh.... it's called choice. Remember, you're the one advocating that.
Ooops.... sorry...I forget...the choice argument is only valid if our choices match yours...
FF isn't for all - in my opinion and most of those that work with me, it just is not a good piece of software. In fact, we dislike it quite a lot because it feels slower, looks like crap, and bleeds resources all over the joint. We don't much care for browsers of any kind and assess that they will change a great deal in coming years <their role>. We do admire the coders, though, but suspect they will move on quickly.

#16 Why do you even bother having FireFox installed if it "feels slower, looks like crap, and bleeds resources all over the joint". You promote Microsoft-only software, why bother having FireFox in the first place? To test sites? What a joke! You've said yourself in the past that you only care about the majority market share, which is IE, why do u care if 1% of YOUR users might have some glitch due to your coding inabilities. So as long as it looks fine in IE, why would YOU need to test it in FireFox? It doesn't make any sense, it's like AWBrian complaining how crap FireFox is, yet he keeps on using it, updating it, trying out new extensions.... what for? so that he can then complain about it?

#18, Simple. We support two large ad agencies and many of them use MAC platforms. My own graphics artist, Shannon, runs a G5 and we are among the very few shops that code for both MAC and Windows - regardless of the mix.
While the MAC headcount is very low compared to Windows XP Pro workstations, it is an important group.
We have found that if we can get a site to run in FF, it will run equally well in Safari. Since the guys can't run Safari as easily on their Windows workstations <would require an emulator>, they use FF for tests. They hate it < FF > based upon their own choices. While we maintain an active MAC lab, it is just more efficient for people to do it as we do - rather than running up and down testing one thing or another in the lab. Of course once we are ready to stage, we test on the platforms to be deployed on.
It's just an issue of common sense on one hand and responding to client MAC requirements.
FF does feel slower. FF does look like crap, and we do dislike it. We do like MSIE and that is our choice. You may not like that choice - about which we recommend you get a helmet that you find comfortable.
AWBrian does as he does very likely to remain objective and to speak from a more credible position. As a similar example, I've run and worked with nothing but a Linuces and Open Office - just to make sure I wasn't missing anything. It was a miserable experience and I lost a lot of time and money as a result. It did however help me to understand and explain to people why I so strongly support Microsoft - they are simply better for my business and the people and buinesses we support - don't tighten the chin-strap too tight...it may cause chaffing. And finally, not one person or business using Fire Fox has ever paid my company a dime for anything.

I thought he said he was using Safari on Mac, not FF?
