Microsoft Goes Xbox Live Ban Happy | |

Over a hundred people on the Xbox-Scene forums are reporting that they were banned from Xbox Live Monday, just one day before Halo 2 was due to launch. Reports from the various victims indicate that even slight modifications such as replacing a broken DVD-ROM from home results in lifetime bans. If you have a modified Xbox, you are presently advised to steer clear of Xbox Live until those clever Xbox modifier chaps can work out some sort of fix, it at all possible. The most likely reason we have currently been given here at ActiveWin by Microsoft is that it seems that they have been scanning hard drives to see if the drive is larger than the 8GB drives that shipped with Xbox's and if they are then a user now recieves a ban from playing on Xbox Live! | ||

BS TechLarry. It is vitally important that MS keeps XBOX live clean and free from cheaters. See Counterstrike as an example of what happens when people start cheating. If you have modified your xbox there is no way MS can guarantee their system is free from hackers and cheaters. Its not like they sent down the signal to make your xbox blow up. . . Bottom line XBOX live is their playground and if you want to play with their toys you have to follow their rules. If you don't like that go have fun with your other console that you can play Halo 2 on.

#3, I wholeheartedly agree.
Cheaters suck and THEY ruin everything. How can you blame MS for protecting their subscribers who PAY MONEY to use the service? I wish trolls would think before posting. |

So, you assume they are all cheaters without proof?
Someone decides to replace their drive with something not 'blessed' by microsoft and they are cheaters? Someone decides to modify their Xbox, which THEY paid for and own, and they are automatically cheaters? I have NO problem banning cheaters. Hell, I'd be ESTATIC if Sierra would ban the cheaters running Nascar 2003 online, but jeez guys.... |
