I read MSDN on a daily basis and I think Microsoft could do a much better job of explaining the new features of its products. I suppose a person who has the patience to read the platform SDK's could likely find out most of what is new, but there should be an easier way.
Instead of wininformant, betanews, activewin, etc. with "the latest news" on Microsoft's products, Microsoft should publish news on its own. For instance, betaproducts.microsoft.com could be a site that would list the latest codenames and betas, builds and release candidates and change info from one to another. Maybe if I were an "official" beta tester, I'd discover that this info already exists, but isn't publically available. I work for a Microsoft Certified Partner, and I can say that they don't make such info available to us. Also, I am a CTO and the hype annoys me. :-) I realize, though, that only in a small company does a CTO actually do developing as well as managing.
