Since every new bug/security major news article comes up as some sort of contest, it doesn't really matter what the running scorecard is, unless you want to start an argument, and since Firefox hasn't gotten to "supported for mission critical use" yet there really isn't a baseline to start from.

No, it doesn't. But as long as the "bug" is not a "security hole" it would not be released ad-hoc -- and that's the way it has always been. Bugs get fixed with service packs, not with emergency releases. So yes, it's been months or years since XP-SP1. However, if you find a bug and need it fixed, you can call MS to get a patch... assuming you own the product. It still verifies the original point made that usually there's a fix within a few hours (believe it or not as you choose -- I've called in on bugs and had an engineered fix within hours myself, but that's just my personal example)
