Not at all amazing that a charitable organization would be able to self-fund to the point of generating a surplus.....that.....is used to.....sustain its contributions, indefinately.
Ironic, too...it underscores the very essence of both the spirit and intent of our free market Democracy....That is...man, left to his own devices...and able to pursue "property"...would do just that...and share it in such a manner as to not burden his fellow countrymen.
Equally ironic...an analysis of that, alongside a cursory analysis of Microsoft's market performance...actually supports Microsoft's case opposite most arguments presented against it.
It is not surprising that the article drew comments from a clear advocate of OSS and a clear advocate of one who more clearly understands the essence of being freely able to participate as a member of an "open society"...where one not only can, but must own property that is not controlled by any other party, or in whose interests the disposition of that property is not influenced by the state. Whether intended or not, the article reveals the fundamental good in both free societies where the ownership of property is essential and encouraged, how it has manifest that good in a man and his bride.
OSS, in my assessment, is among one of many sets of chains that "the people" appear so willing to wrap themselves - I pray it is not part of some more sinister design, but I know better...
