Section: News and Trends Microsoft sues Brazilian magazine, IT official for defamation Sunday June 20, 2004 (02:00 PM GMT) Topics: Legal , News and Trends By: Fergus Cassidy Microsoft Brazil has initiated legal proceedings against a magazine and a senior government official, claiming the company has been defamed. In a 7 June filing to the Criminal Court of Sao Paulo, Microsoft said that "Sergio Amadeu, President of the National Institute of Information Technology (ITI), aiming at disseminating free software among Ministries, State owned companies and governmental bodies, made aggressive declarations lacking any kind of technical foundation about the use of the software developed by Microsoft." The filing continues: "In defending free software, Mr. Amadeu does not abstain from criticizing Microsoft, accusing the company of a 'drug-dealer practice' for offering the operational system Windows to some governments and city administration for digital inclusion programs. "To Amadeu, this will be a decisive year to win the 'strategy of fear, uncertainty and doubt,' as he classifies the business model of Microsoft. | ||

BTW, IMHO, MS success grew faster because it was able to be pirated in the early days of technology. |

Would it suprise you that:

I find it hard to believe that people would provide false, misleading, and out-of-context statements in defending or promoting OSS...I've never seen it, have you? :) humor |

| #17 I know it's very hard to understand that a lot of smart people spent a lot of time conducting and writing those reports...yet you dismiss them immediately because they don't agree with your collectives opinion. Have you read them? Give me some things you disagree with in terms of the conclusions. |

Algebra/English Lesson: A "Quote" does not equal fact. I was asking a question...but you didn't answer...boohoo. "Microsoft does seem to be selling crack. Or opium, in the case of the Chinese." Are you associating Microsoft "crack as an Incredibly Pleasurable, Feature Rich, Interoperable, nirvanna like software...than I guess we agree (well, managing any IT system wouldn't hardly be considered pleasurable in any platform).</joke> It's software dude, not a relegion!!! Also, Microsoft doesn't sue a super huge majority of customers. You are talking about companies that STEAL software. If you want to use some free stuff, great. Just don't steal.
