MS really needs to start getting the word out about how much has changed- not only for the latest service packs, but also since 2000 in general.
There are still so many customers needlessly suffering with NT 4 out there. With the built in stuff right now (IPSEC, Software Restriction Policies, SUS, overall group policy goodness) there is no reason to get affected by every little problem.
They need to start preaching layed secuirty and zero tolerance of stupid admins (and home users).
They need a nice 4 hour training video targeted to upper management that shows the big picture of a fully implemented, CORRECTLY DONE, Active Directory system that points out why they need to go to 2003 and why NT4 sucks.
Microsofts biggest problem right now is distrusting, ignorant users. Most of them still think that Microsoft is to blame for everything. And now some of them are starting to think Linux.
Its not that the user has local admin on their machine and users are free to browse any web site (with no proxy or filters) , still have Outlook 2000 unpatched, are 6 months behind in Windows Update (only because that was the last time they had a re-install). Its because of Bill Gates.
These people dont understand the problem so any approach to fix it will fail (ESPECAILY LINUX!).
And the admins that should know better are to jaded or numb that they dont even try.
The best example of this is the new IBM (?) commercial that shows the little girl infecting the entire enterprise! If I were a shareholder or CEO of such a company that allowed some little kid to infect MY company I would want heads! Thats just totally preventable and unacceptable!
NOTE: this comes after having little or no access to our Exchange 5.5 server (which in all likelyness doesnt belong to us anymore) since thursday night and being embarresed by our client (again) because of blatent stupidity at a level that I am unable to affect.
