hmm, I can understand the changes in stock... and I'm not quite certain on the changes to prescription drug coverage... It only mentions copay if generics are available, and that makes sense. I'd be more concerned with copay where generics aren't available as those are the expensive drugs.
doesn't sound like I much care for their vacation plan. I prefer the time-off plan we have here where vacation is merged with sick time and you just take whatever, so you get like 20 days a year instead of the 10 vacation + 10 sick you'd get elsewhere. Good for me, as I don't very often get sick and have no kids. It sounds like MS is moving away from the get-rich quick scheme to the stay-long-term scheme. That is, moving away from the stock options and offering expanded stuff as you stay there longer. If that's the case, I can understand it. If it's to cut costs, that seems pretty stingy. |

BTW, mooresa56 - business classes teach you that employee satisfaction is an aspect of company efficiency and thus profitability.

I wouldn't call that new benefits package an example of HATING employees. Its better than most of us have.
The benefits package, like the salary, is governed by MARKET conditions. If software companies were averaging 4 weeks of vacation, you can bet MSFT would too. They are simply doing what most (mine included) companies did over the past few years... CORRECT from the extravagance of the late 90s. |

Turns out the Iraqi National Congress... the wonderful patriots of Iraq... the ones who gave us the WMD information and encouraged us to invade Iraq... the guys who told us it would be a cake walk, we'd be greeted as liberators with sweets and flowers...
