Both legitimate and unlicensed users of Microsoft's XP operating system software will be able to download the Service Pack 2 security patch for free Microsoft's increasing concern over information security has translated into its decision to bite the bullet and make its upcoming SP2 (Service Pack 2) security patch available to all users - including those using pirated copies of its Windows XP software. | ||

Not only keep "him" safe, but also to keep the legitimate users safe from "him". Good decision on Microsoft's part. |

agreed. It's a wise choice.
This will also help the overall adoption rate, as well as how quickly the users will get it applied. |

recently the computer community has found that certain concepts of biologic systems are useful constructs in examining the behavior of computer systems. to wit, the use of the concept of a "monoculture" in describing the dominant use of a single OS in the world.
i would like to note that in this case an argument can be make for "vaccinating" all computers with the MS OS to obtain "herd immunity" from certain viruses. the fewer machines that can be infected the less likely that any machine "vaccinated" or not will get a virus. same goes for people. |
