UK based security firm mi2g has analyzed 17,074 successful digital attacks against servers and networks. The results are a bit surprising. The BSD OSes (including FreeBSD and Mac OS X) proved to be the systems least likely to be successfully cracked, while Linux servers were the most vulnerable. Linux machines suffered 13,654 successful attacks, or 80% of the survey total. Windows based servers enjoyed a sharp decline in successful breaches, with only 2,005 attacks. Windows is 2nd most secure with most features Linux is least secure with mediocre features. Duh. |

My VIC-20 is the most secure against intrusion.
Someone would first have to break into my house, and then find it in the closet behind all the other junk, plug it in and figure out which cassette tape has the secret program on it. Then I'm not even sure if the cassette player still works, so... fat lot of good that's going to do ya! |

sodablue, since the VIC-20 only came with 5KB of usable RAM, only lamers need to load from tape. I can simply bang on the keyboard until you're out of memory...voila, Denial Of Service attack, 1981-style!

| holedup, I think soda was making a joke :) I think his point was that you can have an almost absolutely secure system but if it has no features and hardly does anything, what's the point in having it? Maybe I am reading too much into it though. |

Because if they did that then the study would have shown that Windows was the must vulnerable, suffering over 90% of the attacks. See this way, we exclude 90% of the major attacks that have occured and concentrate on the last 10%. In that 10%, Linux suffered 80% of the attacks. That's what's so great about studies, you can just about produce any result you like, you just have to look at the appropriate cross-section from the appropriate angle =) |
