off-topic, because no one really cares about this kitchen article...
Anyone see the new browser stats from onestat.com? http://www.onestat.com/html/aboutus_pressbox26.html Which of these browsers is available for desktop linux? Mozilla and Opera, right? So, assuming that 100% of all mozilla/opera browsers are on linux (which isn't even close to correct), that caps linux's desktop market share at (1.8% + 0.8%) = 2.6% Now, realistically... many of the mozilla/opera users are on windows... so lets halve it. (2.6% / 2) = 1.3% Laughable. Makes you wonder why we see so many desktop linux headlines. |

It's hard to really know what browser/OS they are actually using, because sometimes non-Windows/IE browsers will change their user agent string to make it look like they are using IE.
And then there's that often-quoted "28% of web surfers are using Windows 98"... they fail to mention that that also includes Windows Me, whose user agent says 98 not Me. |

How does people using Windows 98 have anything to do with mooresa's point about no one is using Linux?
But of course, most people who use computers don't use the Internet, so it's not fair to guage Linux's usage based on browser statistics. And it's also a good point that people who use Linux generally aren't proud and they like to hide it so they'll happily change their useragent to read Windows 98. |
