Microsoft has a habit of discontinuing great products. To wit:
1. UltimateTV. 2. SideWinder Controllers. 3. Office Keyboard. 4. Microsoft Bob (LOL! Just kidding :) 5. Smart Displays. With the exception of #4 and 5, I've purchased all of these. The death of UTV (especially after their announced planned additions at the January 2002 CES Show - I think it was this show...) particularly pissed me off. It is far superior to Tivo in nearly every way, but when my UTV box died mid-last year I was forced to go with Tivo which, while I couldn't live without it, is slow and clumbsy compared to UTV. TL EDIT-Added... BTW... The failing of the Smart Displays was the price. A big chunk of this problem was the mandatory bundling of a copy of Windows XP.
