Gates's firm supplied technology used to trap Chinese dissidents, says Amnesty. Technology sold by Microsoft to the Chinese government has been used by Beijing to censor the internet, and resulted in the jailing of its political opponents. An Amnesty International report has cited Microsoft among a clutch of leading computer firms heavily criticised for helping to fuel 'a dramatic rise in the number of people detained or sentenced for internet-related offences'. | ||

Let's see, to get press, let's attack MS, and blame them for something really bad, since there was something that can be linked to them, and we are looking for something to save face, since we made some bad choices in comments or the last 2 months.
Next they are going to blame the chop stick makers, becuase the chinese goverment workers going after people, and inforcing the laws (wrong as they are), used chop sticks to eat with, and if they didn't they would be hungry and not have the energy to arrest anyone. |

| I'm sorry but this is a joke, Microsoft and Cisco aren't to blame for how someone chooses to use their products! (Unless of course those products are specifically manufactured for that purpose - in this case they're not, so yuo have no-one but the Chinese Gov. to blame). |

Very funny. I have to wonder how many of you would be expressing the "you can't control how people use your products" arguement if the article was about handguns being used to take away social liberties in China.
That said, Amnesty International likes to play the blame game everytime someone's rights are taken away from them. Some of their finger pointing is rational and makes sense (blaming the government for the violations), but unfortunately, they have a history of going over board and pointing fingers at everyone remotely involved in the case. Take anything that Amnesty International says with a large grain of salt. |
