Nearly 100,000 people die in U.S. hospitals each year due to diagnostic errors, according to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. After his friend's 21-year-old son died in an emergency room as a result of a misdiagnosis, Michigan pharmacologist Dr. Joel C. Robertson resolved to create a technology product that might prevent similar tragedies by helping doctors to more quickly and accurately assess a patient's condition. | ||

Great. Flow-Chart for Doctors.
Guidance is one thing, but attempting to document every possible thing turns smart people in to tomatoes. Look at your typical Help Desk for a computer manufacturer. If the answer isn't in their 'scripts', you're told to reload Windows because they are trained to read the scripts, only. True Training is a forgotten step. TL |

People that die of “diagnostic errors” are almost certainly NOT going to be helped by any computer in my lifetime.
On the other hand if computers are used in medical facilities to reduce clerical errors such as incorrect dosing and administration of medication and tracking of abnormal lab results; then great benefits to patient will occur. (Just a rant from an Old Country Doc.) |
