Microsoft breathes life into Windows 98, ME | |

Windows 98 and Millennium Edition users will have support for their operating systems extended by over two years, Microsoft announced on Monday. Paid phone support for Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition (SE) and Windows Millennium Edition will be available until June 30, 2006. Microsoft said during this time it will continue to review any security issues and take appropriate steps. | ||

Reality sets in for MS... a significant number of users are still using Windows 9x.
I just saw a 2003 survey showing usage rates of 25-30% for Windows 9x in a very large educational environment (staff and students, work and home). I wouldn't be surprised if 50% of all Windows PCs are still running 9x or ME. |
