Amid Microsoft's new Office 2003 "System" launched last week is a new piece of software aimed at revolutionising the way notebook computers are used in the office. OneNote 2003 ($480) can be used on any modern PC but is really designed for use on a notebook and works better still on a Tablet PC, using its "Digital Ink" input system. Combining the functionality of a pen and paper notepad, a word processor, a digital voice recorder and a file organiser, OneNote aims to replace all the notepads and various junky bits of paper that lie around people's desks and get lost in drawers. | ||

| Office? Not if you use what your paying for it obviously isn't...yeah it would be nicer if it was cheaper, but if you use all of them its worth it as a whole. |

That's $480 in New Zealand dollars...
It's a US$99 product for users of Office, which isn't that expensive. |

Ok, after browsing thru the OneNote website, seeing some of the demo videos...
I've got to load this on my computer at home tonight and start working with it. It sounds like something I've wanted for a long time. |

TL, it is part of Microsoft Office 2003, though it is not included in a suite. Microsoft never stated that OneNote would be included in an Office suite.
As blue stated, the price listed is not the price in USD. Speaking as one who has used OneNote for the last nine months, it is a powerful application. I don't say that everyone has need of it, and it is for this reason, I'm guessing, that it is not included in a suite. I've used it exclusively on a laptop. For those with TabletPCs, OneNote is even more useful. blue, be sure to report back how you like (or don't like) it. There are only two things that bug me about it - it doesn't synch with Outlook notes (and therefore doesn't synch with my PocketPC) and the .one (a note) files are not XML based. Though integration with Outlook probably won't happen, there is a good possibility that OneNote 2.0 will have an XML file format. |
