The best reason not to buy Microsoft Office is Microsoft Office. This suite of e-mail, spreadsheet, word-processing and presentation software so thoroughly dominates the market that it has become its own toughest competitor. When Microsoft has already jammed so many features into earlier versions, why bother upgrading to this year's model? | ||

| hmmm don't know what they are using but as you'll find out in my review its one of the better upgrades in the package compared to the others. |

| I've been using Office 2003 for a couple of weeks now (gotta love MSDN), and I'm very pleased with it so far. Is it worth the upgrade? If you're working in a team environment I would say yes. The document "workspaces" (via integration with Sharepoint) are awesome, as are all the new features of Outlook. |

Next time read the article... "Since these additions don't work in homes, I won't be talking about them here. Instead I will address only what comes in the $399 Standard Edition ($239 for owners of Microsoft Office 97, Microsoft Works 6.0 or any newer versions of each) and the $149 Student and Teacher Edition" Users are these Office editions would pay several hundred dollars to upgrade their copies. Licence 6.0 customers have already paid (and continue to pay yearly) for upgrades to the Office Editions that include Simple XML Integration, OneNote, InfoPath. |

| First at all I think that statements like "It is worth to upgrade" or "It is not worth to upgrade" are misleading; the first question should be: "what release are you using?" Office 97, Office 2000 or Office XP? Personally, being an Outlook addicted, I would upgrade just for the improvements in this lates release but overall I have seen a lot of improvements in the new suite and I am going to upgrade. |

Honestly,what percentage of users are going to ever use that stuff? XML? No non-business user will. OneNote? I use it daily. It's a fabulous app. Anyone with a tablet will love it. Anyone who has meetings or classes will love it. Anyone who jots things down will reading, surfing, etc. will love it. InfoPath? Again, this is a busines app. Research Toolbar? Awesome addition. I use it all the time in Word and while writing email. Very, very nice. Customized toolbars? Um, not sure what he means by this that hasn't been around in previous versions. Word's new reading view is very nice, particularly for long documents. Outlook's search folder functionality, reading pane, flags are incredible. I can never go back to a previous version. |

| I would say that any small business could benefit if upgrading from Office 2000 or earlier. If they already have Office XP, then maybe it is worth the cost of upgrading only if the employees are heavy users of Outlook. Otherwise, they might want to skip this one and save their money for the next release. |
