Here are some new shots of Longhorn build 4029. Unlike my earlier gallery, I did take these shots myself. My second gallery of Longhorn build 4029 shots shows off improvements to the various Libraries, automatic updates, Setup and logon screen.

monkeydog, if we're lucky, in "one more year" Beta 2 will be available.
I wonder if the first pass at the new UI will even be ready to include in the PDC build next month? I've heard comments that it will, but some that it won't.
It's good to see that MS permits screenshots being posted of products they didn't hand out themselves but which can only be obtained from sources like IRC servers and newsgroups. It used to be that those kinds of sites didn't last a day, but since this has happened several times before on that particular site (and others), I guess it's OK now. First Amendment?

The clock is resizeable, as is the sidebar itself. Paul seemed to be running in a low resolution (895x600) (presumably because he was using a notebook and/or he wanted you to see the details in the shots).
In any case, the majority of the UI elements are scalable.
Apparently MS is just testing out new code that allows for easier changes to different product attributes. Previously, when MS would update the strings for things like the product version/build, etc., they'd have to make some of the changes in more than one place. Now it's easier for them to update. I think Paul mentioned this in his latest ShortTakes.
