With the Sobig.F worm on the wane and its successor presumed to be waiting in the wings, fingers are pointing angrily at Redmond. "People sometimes ask me why I loathe and detest Microsoft with such a visceral passion," wrote packet-radio pioneer and security expert Phil Karn on his Web site. I just don't get it. My Outlook blocks .PIF extensions and has done so for at least a year. It didn't take any special effort on my behalf to get this behaviour. I also run a virus detection program and am smart enough to know not to launch .pif files.
If people are still getting infected now, then I think I would look at the direction of the other three fingers as they point their index finger towards Redmond. |

PUBLIC SERVICE ANOUNCEMENTS!! these ignorant people that have no knowledge of computers need to wake up and relealize that they make this stuff happen!
I know, 100% with out a doubt, that i did not contribute one single instance of CodeRed, nimda, sobig, slammer, blaster or any other thing to the rest of the world. Put them on during football, put them on during Friends (make it part of the $1 billion an episode/person they get). (hmm... hack the celeberties - give them a cause.. wont work they wont even notice unless there are little baby kittens covered in radio active oil) Put them on durring NASCAR- something like "if you think that crash was bad watch what happens when Mr Moron connects his new fully bloated, over-priced, but under-protected PC to AOL High Speed. Put them on the top of the hour on CNN. Put them everywhere!!! and if the vendors could start shipping PCs that are setup better (how freaking hard would that possibly be!) that would be great. |

| You would think that with this 'Microsoft’s at fault' attitude that the ambulance chasers of the world would be lined up at the class action trough. I haven’t seen that, so maybe it’s a specious argument. |
