  Symantec launches software for handhelds
Time: 09:18 EST/14:18 GMT | News Source: Electric News | Posted By: Brian Kvalheim

Amid the current spat of viral infections, security software maker Symantec has launched anti-virus packages for consumer and corporate handhelds. The Symantec Antivirus for Handhelds range is comprised of three different products: a Consumer Edition, a Corporate Edition and a Corporate Edition with Event and Configuration Manager. All three are designed to protect Palm OS and Microsoft Pocket PC devices against viruses, worms and other malicious code, Symantec said. The company's anti-virus software for handhelds needs to be downloaded on a desktop PC first and from there anti-virus application files can installed on PDAs via USB or infrared.
