It's not often that a small Maine company could claim to be as large as Microsoft. Earlier this summer, however, DeLorme, the Yarmouth mapping and software company, could make the claim - at least for part of its business. In June, DeLorme sold nearly $1.2 million in mapping software and equipment, equaling Microsoft, which had dominated the market as it dominates most of the software markets it enters. | ||

This isn't very accurate. They're talking about small consumer market products. ESRI which averages around $24 million a month in sales is the granddaddy in the mapping business. MapInfo is another large player and sells like $7 million a month. Then on GPS equipment side Magellan,Trimble and Garmin are also major players with more sales than DeLorme.
