I have noted the chagrin about the recent worm attack on the Windows operating system ["Internet Worm Targets Windows," front page, Aug. 13]. What can we expect when 95 percent of the operating systems in use in this country come from one company? Macintosh, Linux and other operating systems are seldom attacked because much more damage can be done by attacking Windows. Bringing down all the Macintosh and Linux systems would cause much less disruption than the recent worm caused. Perhaps it is time to consider having various operating systems that interface with one another.
