Following are some of the notable tech-related events scheduled for the week of Aug. 3.
Linux will take center stage in the coming week, with the LinuxWorld Conference & Expo taking place in San Francisco. One important topic will likely be SCO Group's claim that Linux contains code that infringes on SCO's Unix intellectual property. Keynote speakers will include Peter Blackmore, Hewlett-Packard's enterprise systems group executive vice-president and Jonathan Schwartz, Sun Microsystems' software group executive vice president.
Cisco Systems will also grab some of the spotlight, as the networking giant gears up to report its quarterly earnings. Investors will keep a keen eye on Cisco's financial results, given that the tech company serves as a bellwether for the industry.
