Zona Research's annual report on the browser war reveals that 55 per cent of the 250 IT professionals surveyed had a policy that specified Internet Explorer as the browser of choice. Only 45 per cent specified Navigator, a drop from last year's figure which credited the company with 55 per cent of the market. | ||

This surely makes one wonder whether Microsofts motivation behind making IE a great browser was to squash the competition or for the benefit of the consumers.
If the goal was to benefit the consumer why have they stagnated after squashing the competition? Why have they not continued to make much needed improvements to benefit the consumer? |

| Oh, I dont know... but perhaps ms got a bit gun shy with innovating their browser, due to the related multi-billion dollar lawsuits brought against them? |

| I use Firebird mainly, however, there is no other browser that renders as well as IE, in my opinion. |

| Funny how things change. You wouldn't believe the amount of "mozilla will never amount to nothing" crap i had to live throug till now, ever since I started testing mozilla M3....... |

The web will always suck as long as it's HTML and JavaScript based.
If the world could move to XML, client side transforms and strong, type-safe, full-featured, object-oriented languages on the client-side, then things would really start happening. Until then, the browser wars are just lame. Really? Tabbed browsing is going to revolutionize the browser industry? Give me a break. |

to read comments here, you would think tabbed browsing was some great innovation. Its a single feature. Whoop-T-do.
I'm more pleased that Microsoft has ever-improving versions of IE for my PocketPC and for the smartphone, etc. That consistency is important for many development efforts. But thats something that a few users of this site just dont understand. You see... its important to BUSINESS. Do you not understand that BUSINESS pays for their product. Thats why features are geared toward them. |
