Microsoft donation for Iraq | |

The UAE Red Crescent announced yesterday that it has received a donation from Microsoft Middle East of over $150,000 for its relief effort for the people of Iraq. The donation is a direct contribution from Microsoft and its employees to the UAERC's campaign for supporting the Iraqi people and alleviating the humanitarian suffering endured by them in the aftermath of the recent war. | ||

Umm... This $150,000 is money donated by the employees and then matched by Microsoft.
Most companies do not give money directly to charities, they give corporate matches. This basically turns the process into a democracy where the employees choose where to give money. |

Also, this is employee contributions. I don't think that Microsoft employees are generally richer than the rest of us.
Also, I object to the reference that the suffering of the people in Iraq was caused by the war. The suffering of the people in Iraq was caused by a rapid breakdown in civilization at the hands of a brutal dictator for 30+ years. Only recently have the Allies caused some disturbances, but had they not have been under a brutal dictatorship for so long, they: a.) wouldn't have had this problem in the first place b.) would've had a stable civil infrastructure such that a war like this wouldn't have been as huge a disruption. But, leave it to the liberal media to completely ignore a brutal dictatorship that has tortured, raped and committed attrocities in order to lay all the blame on Bush. |
