Microsoft's legal prospects are looking up these days. On May 29, it settled a lawsuit with AOL Time Warner, which had accused the software giant of illegally muscling out rival Internet browsers. And last week, it reached a settlement with West Virginia, one of 19 states that had sought a breakup of Microsoft because of anti-competitive practices. That makes 18 states that have reached deals with the company, leaving just Massachusetts with an ongoing suit. | ||

Actually, this should have been titled, "Yet again, Microsoft flexes its mighty wallet." They have spent millions upon millions, approaching or surpassing 1 billion dollars to "settle" with these states and companies. The issue for these suits all along was about money, not about free enterprise, or monopolies. It is the same thing when you get a traffic ticket. The court doesn't care about you breaking the law per se, it is just seen as revenue for its coffers.
The time will come when people will say, enough is enough. I am tired of having my money ripped from me by the hands of thugs and hooligans that just happen to work for government. So, everyone buckle up, slow down, use your turn signals, and then maybe we can force government to show its hand by raising other taxes to compensate for our good driving. <g> Oh well, it is a Monday. He had a point there. What he says is what exactly happens in the Netherlands. That way 1. They employ unemployed people (in the Netherlands it's not the police who gives the ticket when you park somewhere longer than you were supposed to.) 2. They make billions in a year. (forgot to put coins in the machine? - $65) |

| #2, No. I just hate the fact that after 31 years of driving with NO accidents that were my fault, I still have to have Insurance to drive. They suck hundreds of dollars out of my wallet every year just so I can drive legally. And, if I forget a premium, I can get up to a 2000.00 fine. I call this a legalized protection racket. "Hey, you want to drive with protection? Pay big Lougie here, and we will keep the coppers of your back. We call it 'INSURANCE' " |

| Thanks Rick. $65 for overdue parking? That is sad. Here in Texas, you can get a 45.00 ticket for parking in your own yard. Some people thinks it makes the neighborhood look bad when you do that, but it is the best way for some that don't have a garage that connects to their house to put TV's, or other heavy appliances in and out of the house for repair, or replacement. Taxes, taxes and more taxes.... Maybe it is time for a Tea Party? ROFLOL |
