Actually, this should have been titled, "Yet again, Microsoft flexes its mighty wallet." They have spent millions upon millions, approaching or surpassing 1 billion dollars to "settle" with these states and companies. The issue for these suits all along was about money, not about free enterprise, or monopolies. It is the same thing when you get a traffic ticket. The court doesn't care about you breaking the law per se, it is just seen as revenue for its coffers.
The time will come when people will say, enough is enough. I am tired of having my money ripped from me by the hands of thugs and hooligans that just happen to work for government.
So, everyone buckle up, slow down, use your turn signals, and then maybe we can force government to show its hand by raising other taxes to compensate for our good driving. <g>
