Sun Microsystems will describe on Wednesday new software designed to make its Java programming tools more popular with smaller businesses. With "Rave," Sun is trying to match the speed with which programmers can use Microsoft tools such as Visual Studio.Net to create comparatively simple programs for servers, said Rich Green, Sun's vice president of developer platforms. The first version of the software should go on sale in the first half of 2004, he said. | ||

*sigh* How pathetic.
Sun had about a 10 year head start on Microsoft with Java and all they could produce in that amount of time was nothing. They had to take over NetBeans from another group, they couldn't even get their own IDE going. They could've practically copied Visual Studio 6 and captured a huge portion of developers and entrenched them for the upcoming battle with MS and .NET. Now they're having to play catch-up after .NET has been on the market somewhat slightly less than a year, or has it been a year already? Regardless, it's simply pathetic that Sun is this slow and worthless. |

Ooooh, I get to put my projects on hold for a year until SUN makes available the tools I need today. I am going to tell my boss tomorrow that I am taking the next year off until they are ready. |

Even if I were to accept your axiom, not all Java IDEs are built using Swing.
