The point the author is trying to make is that in order to gain the full functionality out of Outlook 2003 you have to pay more than what you might think.
To get full functionality out of Outlook 2003 you need to be running Exchange 2003 To get full functionality out of Exchange 2003 you need to be running Windows Server 20003 This can be quite expensive if all you really want to do is upgrade your mail client! |

Does Outlook 2003 offer any .NET managed apis? Or is it all still the old COM interfaces?
Just curious, I have an idea which involves interfacing with Outlook and I'm wondering if maybe 2003 might not be easier to do that with. :) |

Thats absolutely correct and neither I or the author of the article dispute that. " "Also I've not read anywhere that you lose ex2003 features if the underlying OS is win2k." Then maybe you should read the whole article, in particlar the last page where the author explains this to you in detail. |

Full functionality has nothing to do with how you connect or what a particular person does with a program. I'd say most "joe users" only use the most basic features MS office has to offer anyways. |

Just because it CAN BE quite expensive doesn't mean that it WILL BE for most joe blow users. But not only Joe Blow users want to use outlook 2003 and exploit its full potential Like i said, I made a statement. You are reading too much into it. Quit being a #$@#$head. Both statements can coexist and be 100% correct side by side. "All I'm doing is questioning the validity of your statements." No you are being a troll! kevinu - Interesting. I'm going to have to look more into this. I have an idea for interfacing with Outlook, and if I'm going to start from scratch I might as well work with 2003.
