A simple flaw in Internet Explorer 6.0 causes the browser to crash when it views pages containing malicious HTML code, a security researcher has found. Although many DoS vulnerabilities such as this can lead to the discovery of more serious flaws after further research, AusCERT security researcher Jamie Gillespie said it's unlikely in this case. | ||

Hey since someone brought this up...
Redhat has already released like 4 times as many security bulletins as Microsoft so far this year(over 40 compared to 13). Just with Redhat 9 which was only released like a month ago they have had 12 bulletins. Proving once again that the Common Wisdom from the Linux community is neither Wisdom, nor Common. |

I'm surprised that the Red Hat version number is up to 9 already... 8 came out only about 6 months ago? Must be trying to catch up to Apple?

| It's interesting that the conversation went over 'security', however what I understand from the article is that it has nothing to the with security, just that there is a way to crash IE. It sounds to me like a simple bug. |

IE is *much more important* because 96% of the free world uses that browser.

Exactly! Which is why I've never made that implication. I simply point out that the open source community's implication that since MS releases security bulletins that means their software is insecure is nothing but FUD. |
